Morganton Road Corridor

I attended the Morganton Road Corridor Study-Fayetteville Meeting last night. https://ncdot.publicinput.com/a2521

I would not call it a meeting as there was NO meeting. There were representatives from NCDOT stationed in front of x-large maps of sections of the studied areas. Citizens could ask questions at the maps.

A big change for Vanstory Hills - a District 5 area!! From Northview Rd., you will only be able to turn right on Morganton Rd. (FYI, a stoplight has been approved here but is awaiting over $800k in funding.) From Cliffdale Rd, you will also only be able to turn right on Morganton Rd.

So residents of Vanstory Hills will now go through their neighborhood towards the exits on Cliffdale Rd. where they can turn left. Will this cause more accidents with drivers turning left onto a busy road? Will neighborhood safety be disrupted as traffic is redirected because people cannot turn left? Let's not forget to factor in parents from Vanstory Hills school will be trying to turn left on Cliffdale Rd. at the same time parents of Fayetteville Academy are entering and exiting too.

Speaking of schools, the proposal calls for a right turn only from Skye Dr. on to Morganton Rd. which is a major exit for FTCC traffic. Will this cause FTCC traffic to redirect to Hull Rd. to get to Churchill Rd. so they can turn left on Morganton Rd? If so, traffic will once again be redirected through a neighborhood potentially causing increased safety concerns to residents.

While we were told this project was not yet funded and probably 10 years away, I PLAN TO STILL LIVE HERE IN 10 YEARS! I believe a proactive approach is always best. We need to address these concerns now, before it is too late.
